rabbit is proud to partner with our friends at Running Warehouse to present the rabbit5000, which is a perfect last-chance qualifier for athletes looking to secure entry into the USATF Outdoor National Championships. Pacers will be provided for both the men’s and women’s races.


Entry standards for the rabbit5000 are 14:30 for men and 17:10 for women. Athletes who have not achieved those marks but would like to be considered for entry can email the race director, David Monico. The rabbit5000 is only open to athletes with zero lifetime doping infractions.

The race will take place on June 2, 2018, just after sunset, under the lights at Santa Barbara City College’s spectacular La Playa Stadium

Women’s Race — 8:15pm

Men’s Race — 8:45pm

The men’s 5000 field is almost full. When we reach the field limit, we will continue to accept entries for the wait list and will notify athletes of their entry status as soon as possible.

The winner (or first non-collegiate finisher) in each race will receive a $500 prize, with a $1000 bonus if the runner achieves the USATF A Standard.

Second and third place finishers in each race are also eligible for a $250 bonus if they run under 14:10 in the men’s race or 16:30 in the women’s race.

NCAA/NIAA athletes are eligible to compete but cannot win prize money. In the event that a collegiate athlete wins the race, the first non-collegiate runner across the line will receive the winner’s prize and, if applicable, the A Standard bonus.

Travel & Hospitality

While we do not offer lodging stipends, we may be able to provide home stays with the local running community on a first come, first serve basis, as well as local hotel discounts. Interested athletes should contact David Monico for more information.

On Sunday June 3, the day after the rabbit5000, be sure to check out the State Street Mile, which offers a blazing fast downhill road mile through the heart of Santa Barbara and plenty of additional opportunities to win prize money!

At rabbit, we’re all about supporting and building the amazing community of runners, so you know we wouldn’t have an event that was just for the elites. We are proud to present the Community 3000, which will provide a great opportunity for runners of all abilities to test out their track legs in a fun, supportive environment.

3000 meters is 7.5 laps of the track, or just under 2 miles.

Runners should be able to finish the 3000 in 25 minutes or under, which is approximately 14:30 per Mile pace.

The Community 3000 will start at 7:40 pm
